Respect the 2016 vintage and the following 2018 the 2017 is very different. If 2016 was classifiable as a "fresh" or "cold" vintage the 2017 its a "warm" vintage.

The winter was as usual cold with a big snow in February. Is ever important for the hidric reserve in the soil.

Spring with temperature a little bit over the medium, but ever ventilated (the wind is another charatteristcs important for the vineyards to can quickly dry the soil after the rains (already draining by nature), so to can work immediately.

The summer, as in all the Italy was hot. The night are fresh but dont as the usual and the rain it appeared on average about 1 time per month to help the hidric reserve stocked during winter/summer. So we dont have idric stress during the summer, but a lovely less work in the vineyards (less grass clippings !!)

Harvest a little bit anticipate respect the usual: From 15 to 20 Oct.

VINIFICATION

The grapes, collected in small baskets are taken directly to the cellar for selection and removal from the vine. The whole grapes are then put into steel tanks for the alcoholic fermentation (maceration lasts the same amount of time as fermentation). Afterward the 'must' is 'drawn off' and the dregs are soft pressed. Malolactic fermentation occurs in barriques of 200 l. (50% new) for a total of 12 months.

Additional aging takes place in bottles for 12 more months before release.

TASTING NOTES

Intense ruby color with strong garnet reflections. Ample and complex perfume, decidedly mineral, fruity and ethereally youthful with clear spicy hints. Aroma provokes strong sensation of cherry, currant, rosemary, tobacco and cinnamon.

Has a dry, warm flavor, broad structure and persistent, aromatic and long finish. Wine of strong personality, representative of its territory and destined to have a great future.

SOIL

Volcanic layers: lava, lapilli, ash and layers of clay
